A sub-adult, male Steller sea lion lies dead on the sand at Pomponio State Beach, while a scavenger - crow or raven - begins 'the process'. A Marine Mammal Center examination found the cause of death to be 'undetermined' - another one of many unexplained Steller sea lion deaths. The Steller sea lion is a listed threatened/endangered species.
